Located in Los Angeles, CA, the single family residence was designed by New Theme to make the most of prevailing winds, solar orientation, passive design, and renewable energy - and it's topped with a green roof. On the south side of the property, a generous courtyard is carved from the building to provide views and facilitate the buildings ability to use natural ventilation. The open courtyard uses aluminum sliders that allow two levels of the structure to be entirely open to the outdoors. A pool is purposefully placed halfway into the courtyard to assist with the passive cooling system.
